CCEF gives donation for highly technical education

The Campbell County Educational Foundation has donated $17,500 to support highly technical education for Campbell County high school seniors in the Central Virginia Community College/Campbell County School’s Dual Enrollment Program.

This program gives all Campbell County high school seniors the opportunity to pursue education in Welding, Machine Tool, Health Sciences, Cyber Security, EMT/Paramedic, and Criminal Justice. CCEF’s donation will go to support tuition, textbooks, manuals, and costly required program supplies. The Foundation already had donated a total of $17,500 to the school system.

CCEF supports quality public educational programs that will encourage and prepare Campbell County students to become successful citizens. The Foundation’s current focus is the dual enrollment educational path because Campbell County seniors can finish high school with a diploma, the first step toward a trade certificate, and a job offer. Starting salaries are attractive. Students graduate with little or no debt. They are better prepared if they want to start businesses or use their earned college credits toward further degrees.

Regional employee shortages exist in many of these fields, and in today’s economic climate, Foundation members say employer demand should continue well into the future. With jobs available, students are likely to see this career path as even more attractive. Campbell County students gain the hands-on skills they need for successful employment, and regional employers secure a skilled workforce for in-demand jobs.
